The Recap: Poetry as a Liberation Technology
π‘ In Case You Missed It! -- A Recap Mini-Zine, playlist, and Are.na channel for youuu!
Hey yβall! Hope that you are hanging in there as best as you can, and finding glimmers of light throughout these chaotic times. π€
At the end of March, just a few days before National Poetry Month began, I kicked things off with a presentation/workshop on Poetry as a Liberation Technology. We explored Poetry as a "revolutionary language technology" (as I like to call it), peered into mirrors of Memory, witnessed the works of Poets of the past and present, and even co-wrote a Collective Poem that calls in the fierceness of love, belief, and desire for a better future (shoutout to June Jordan and Assata Shakur!).
I am incredibly grateful for everyone who registered, partcipated, and brought their imaginations into this space (especially since this was my first time leading and creating a workshop, and doing it solo β one down, many more to go!). And an extra-special Thank You to Jasmine Banks of Generation Common Good for the support and space to share!
